This may sound harsh, but my mother suddenly died 5 months ago. My Dad died in 2006. With both of them gone, so much about our relationship is irrelevant, it’s my life now. It always was, but now I really know I’m on my own and it makes no difference what they did or did not do at any point in my life. I will join them soon enough! So don’t worry about reaching your folks, just love them and appreciate them as best you can because one day both will be gone. XXXX
