I was following some of those instagram model accounts, and one of my female friends (not gf or anything) saw who I was following, and they think it was creepy, so I am trying to clear up the situation now. Not sure if there is much I can do. Any advice on how to handle this?

Get another account and keep it secret then follow away ! That’s what I do , I don’t like or leave comments just look at there pictures and fantasise no harm done .
