I used to be obease. I started exercising and eating healthy and I’m only a tiny bit overweight now. My wife is very overweight and I hoped my change would motivate her to slim down too. It barely made an impact, she eats a few extra vegetables, that’s it. Nothing turns me off more than a fat woman. I don’t want to hurt her feelings but it seems inevitable.

  • Diets and exercise are more successful if incorporated in the family lifestyle. Think creatively about how to include that in your family routine (cook a healthy romantic dinner) and also explain to her how it is important for you that you are both healthy so she doesnt secretly binge. Furthermore, find out why her eating habits are so unhealthy.. and its important that you be supportive and show her you love her all the times (you made a vow). Tip from me is that people usually dont get offended if you pass out the goal as being able to do some activity (tell her you want to go hiking with her as an example.. she wont feel pressure from the scale in that case which can be very discouraging, it will be more about building endurance for that activity.. but in the end it will do wonders for her body.. and you will want to bring more challenges as she becomes more able to do stuff.. start with easier ones and go big).. All the best

    • what she will work on will be building her endurance for that activity and not fitting in a certain dress. Furthemore, find out what her wildest desires are in terms of physical activities and do those..if she had ever tried sports as a kid and failed… motivate her to try again.. her success will do wonders for her self-esteem.. or try dancing classes as a couple for exercise.
