And honestly, any girlfriend you get now isn’t going to be the girl you end up with. Dating in high school just leads to stupid drama. So just take a deep breath. You’re totally okay. I didn’t start dating until the end of college, and it was only because I had stopped obsessing over “getting a girlfriend” and just decided to be myself and fucking live life. The woman I’m with now I met at a book signing and we were friends for months before it just sort of naturally evolved into mutual attraction. You shouldn’t think of it as “getting a girlfriend”, you should just try having friends that are girls. Friendship should always come before dating. Good luck, little dude. I also have that kind of thought, from time to time, and I also worried about that. And Im just 16 and had never been on a date before. And sometimes I also think that maybe no one likes me and that Im going to die alone; but I know and really hope that at some point of my life Im going to meet a wonderful boy who loves me just the way I am. I guess I just have to be patient and when it is meant to be it will be.

Maybe just get to know some girls as people first without the ulterior motive to date them, then feelings might arise naturally on their own. The pressure to be good at dating sometimes kills your chances from the start. 17 is too young to start worrying about it. I didn’t start dating till I was 23 when I fell in love with someone I knew first as a friend. We’ve been happily married for 6 years now.
