HELP HELP HELP!!!
I’ve been playing clarinet for about a total of four years, and I am in the school band. I’m somehow in the top band but I’VE BEEN LIVING A LIE THIS WHOLE TIME AND I AM SO PETRIFIED.
I don’t know any of the names of the actual notes. I know the fingerings, how to play them, the scales. But when someone yells PLAY HIGH E IDK WHAT TO DOOOO. The scales I barely get by and THATS WHY I PANICKING I HAVE TO EITHER PERFORM LIVE IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE BAND OR 16 SCALES AT HOMEEEEEE. AND THE SIXTEEN SCALES ARE REALLY JUST FOUR SCALES WITH ALL OF THE MINOR MAJOR COMPONENTS BUT I MTERRIFIED HELP I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO ANYTHINGGG

Drill, baby, drill. Night and day til you get it right. You’ve got the ear, just not the names of the notes. If this is the school band and not the fucking Philharmonic, you’ve got nothing to worry about, just force yourself to learn the notes if that’s what’s being asked of you, and be done with it. Also, make sure to record yourself both with audio and video, as painful as it is, as it will reveal to you your weak spots, which you can then work on. And relax, man…you write “HELP HELP HELP” but look in the mirror and you’ll see the person who can “help.” 🙂
