I became a Med Aide shortly after my 18th birthday, and shortly after I was hired at my then new job, I had a really picky patient who liked to do things her way only. Well I had to give her a suppository…. and she refused to lay in an easier position because she couldn’t see the tv then…. so I go along with it because innocent shy 18 year old me is super non confrontational and in blind…. and the suppository did not end up where it should have…. and she let me know…. very loudly…… and I had to go digging to remove it…. and it did not come out easily…. I felt super horrible and just kept on apologizing until, finally, it came out, but I had to stand there nearly in tears as patient berated me before could administer another suppository. I still feel mortified and anxious whenever think about it.
