I am a shoplifter/thief. I don’t pocket things in stores, but I will take expensive produce and go up to the self-checkout and enter “bananas” and pay .49 cents for Gala apples that are $3.99 a pound or whatever it is. I will also fill up a bag at the “Assorted nuts” section for $6.99 a pound but I will stop by the Brazil nuts ($14.99 a pound) and cashews ($12.99) a pound and dump some of each in the bag, and pay $6.99 for the whole bag. I know it’s wrong, I know it’s childish, but I make like $14,000 a year working full time, 7 days a week and dammit, I want to eat fresh fruit and nuts. I tell myself I will stop when I start making more money. One time I got caught and all the woman did was charge me what the items were worth and it wasn’t a big deal, so I don’t think I’ll be going to jail. It just s**** that I’m a grown man and a petty thief. I am ashamed. Thank you for listening.

We’ve all done this a few times. I usually would mix a few expensive fruits with one of the cheaper ones and use the code for the cheap one. If I would get caught I would say I thought they were all the same.

Besides, it’s not like doing that doesn’t put the produce to good use whereas it would otherwise rot away when there aren’t enough people able to buy it.

Figure you are not “stealing,” more like “involuntary discount” as opposed to “Five finger discount.” It’s good that you know it’s wrong, though. I don’t know what else to tell you except eat shittier fruit and forgo the cashews and Brazil nuts until you can afford them, this way you can sleep at night you desperate criminal lol
Yeah I am a produce manager.. we get a budget for stockloss… people doing this affects it.. you may think it is harmless but it screws with peoples jobs
