3 months ago while at a restaurant with the family, I overheard my dad saying “being gay is a phase, a choice, the devil’s path/disobeying god and something people will snap out of one day” in a conversation with my grandpa.

The ignorance is strong and I don’t know what to do about it but to still feel hurt/guilty of who I am in general. I’m a closet bisexual guy.

  • OP here.. my family has no idea about my sexuality and they’ll be super duper disappointed and would give me the “god/jesus talk” if they find out. I wish I could just move far far away where I’m not near my family. I’m 21 and on disability (aspergers) for those of you who might ask for my age.

    • ok. i mean if they believe in the teachings of the bible which refer to men laying with men as an abomination then… yea, theyll likely recite that to you. as far as the psychology (if any) behind being gay, and whether or not its “snap-outable,” perhaps you could just simply form your own opinion as well. it is what it is…

  • Sexuality is not a choice. Religion disapproves of same sex relations due to lack of offspring who would be dues paying church members. Right is loving, consensual relationships between adults. Go with that and get yourself to a place where other people accept that. Good luck.
