I think you did a good thing. I’m a guy, and I would appreciate that if I was your friend. That’s a good way to interfere. Especially if it was the truth. You didn’t lie or manipulate to separate them, you didn’t cause any shit directly with her, you gave him the truth that could potentially hurt him. I would appreciate it if I was him
