“Um, Hello?” I hadn’t heard anyone coming and relaxed right away when I saw the visitor. “Well hello there?” Looking around for any threat at all. “UM, Hi. I’m Michelle?” “Hello Michelle, I’m Buddy,” trying to be friendly. Caught off guard for a change but quickly realizing no threat. Kind of a strange deal. I don’t get unannounced visitors but wildlife. I made sure my hand was clean and offered it to her. She was as shy as I as we shook hands. “So what brings you to my land My Lady?” I noticed that she noticed my bow. She did blush just a touch. She was maybe 10 or 11 and had pushed a bicycle up my long drive. “Um how do you do? I…um. I,. I cut in but not rudely. “You look a little thirsty let me get you something.” She had no time to respond. There was a fresh pitcher of iced tea I was saving for company so why not now!? I pulled out another chair and we got as comfy as complete strangers can around a small table that was 30 seconds ago holding wrenches and such. She had rested her bike on it’s side in the lawn. “Thank you!” She breathed out a sigh after sitting and drinking. I noticed her calm as she sat and looked around. “Your very pretty Michelle. I really love the way your looking around.” “You have a really nice place here Buddy.” She could have been 50 and just as attractive. “And I am graced with your presen… “OH my goodness how rude of me!! She stood . “I am so sorry! You put me to such ease! UM Billy! Billy said you might be able to…” I was lowering my hand in a restful motion that she finally caught on to. She looked both pretty, and goofy. She sat and I refilled her glass, that she just then near emptied. “This is really good tea!” It was sun tea, no big deal. She was nervous is all. I was too, a new neighbor and I didn’t know anyone bought that house? It took two times to get her attention. “Michelle?” She blinked. She had gotten a flat tire and met Bill who had sent her to me for help. She was not a dumb girl. Silly, yes, We liked each other. She helped patch her tire, with the supplies Bill knew I had. She and her mom and dad, had only moved in down road 2 days ago. We made dinner and called her folks to come to my place. Shelly handed me tools and learned about G.M. V-8s
