I’ve started wondering if I should try not to be alone. Find a partner with a good job + health benefits at least. I’ve been alone forever by choice. Online relationships when I was younger don’t count, that was dumb. I feel ridiculous going back on so many years of putting my foot down but if I settle I know that some things will definitely be easier.

Make sure you get a house first. First time home owner won’t work if you’re married and your new spouce has bought a house as well.
Also filing joinly on taxes takes a hit to your return.
Not to mention the pressure of joint accounts. nEVER GET A JOINT ACCOUNT. THEY CAN TAKE ALL OF Y O U R HARD EARNED MONEY.
Also if you do find someone to settle down with, chances are marriage will come up. A prenup is absolutely more than necessary in case of divorce down the road. That way you don’t have to spend so much (thousands-hundreds of thousands) on lawyers. All your equity is already split up.
Then again this coming from a single 20 yearold maybe why this sinhle 20 yearold is still just that.
OP is the one sinking security and benefits. Frankly it doesn’t sound like the OP has anything to protect.
