I’ve had a constant imaginary friend from the age of 11 onwards. My wife doesn’t even know about her. I don’t tell people because I expect anybody will think I have mental illness if I do. I know this person is all in my imagination but is a source of comfort so I carry on.

  • Slow clap. So you think you may have an mental illness but you’re not going to try an get any help for it? Would that be your same approach to diabetes or heart disease?

      • If that’s the way you’re thinking, you DO need some help. Don’t wait for things to become worse, and more degenerative, which is what they tend to do with time. You could be playing with the possibility of a psychotic break. You could even end up hurting yourself, your wife or someone else.
