I have a massive crush on a fictional character named Fenneko from an anime called Aggretsuko. I know it is not uncommon for people to fall for fictional characters, especially anime and manga but if you Google her name you will see that she is not human, but rather a fennec fox. This isn’t the first time I’ve fallen for a non human fictional character, but this is the first time I’ve felt very strongly about it. If anybody’s wondering, yes I am a member of the furry fandom. But my purpose for writing this is to see if anybody else has had a similar experience. It’s just kinda a harmless fantasy thing and by no means translates to anything involving real animals. I just think that Fenneko is really cute and there’s just something about her that I find very attractive.

  • I don’t think that is really that uncommon either even though it is of course clearly more common when the anime character is just a regular human. I haven’t had a thing for any of the anime “animals” either but I can still admit if some of the “cat-boys” seem kind of cute (whether ot not that is just a drawing or and actual manga/anime character). I haven’t watched the anime myself and have only heard of it once but I think Fenneko was kind of a rare one though especially taking into account that she is just more of a straight off fennec fox rather than just “a human” with the ears and a tail of one while possibly transforming into one in some instances. If you like anime/manga it will most likely happen at some point (that you fall for a character in one) even if you don’t expect it because of the species and especially more easily if it’s just a human.

On another note even if anime does kind of or straight off stand for Japanese animation, do you personally count ones in the style of one anime no matter the country it is made in or the nationality of the person making it or only if either of these or both of these are Japan/Japanese as that seems like an interesting question sense it seems to depend on the person.
