I AM avoiding you. I wish you had not tried to reach out to me, because now I’m forced to choose between ignoring your email or responding to you with a lie. I don’t know what you expect me to say – that I went out of my way to avoid working with you because you remind me of our dead student? That I’ve been living the high life since then and am doing “well?” That I’m mad at you and still somewhat blame you for what happened? I don’t consider you enough of a friend to deserve to know how I feel, but I’m also afraid that you’ll read too much into a nonresponse and make a bigger deal out of this than if I just told you straight that I hate you. I wish you would just leave me alone
