It is time for the Arab people to rise up out of their shells and decide for themselves. My love goes out to Tunis, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and any other peoples that are willing to stand up to corrupt and authoritative governments. Come alive.

  • My class and History professor were discussing this… Friday, I think? Everyone supported the poor citizens fighting for their freedom. We were also discussing things like how Egypt was supposedly a democracy, but in action, not really, because the same leader was in power for ~ 30 YEARS. Our longest ruling leader here across the pond was FDR, at just under 16 years because he got elected four times, and even though the people liked him enough to put him in office that many times, rules were put in place to limit possible numbers of terms to two. I mean, here, we ruffle feathers having the same guy (Bush) as president for EIGHT years. I can’t even begin to imagine having the same one for thirty, especially if he causes enough ill will to trigger a revolution…

I agree with T.A. Best of luck to those revolutionaries standing up to a government that takes advantage of them, and is unfair. Doubtless, as in any revolution or conflict, there will be atrocities perpetuated by both sides, and championing a good cause is no excuse for doing so, but the people have a right to freedom, and their hearts in the right place.

Best of luck to all. May the violence be short, the government fixed, and the ensuing peace be happy, prosperous, just, and long. Let us hope for the success of the people, and avoidance of another French Revolution.

I would be SO dead if I lived under an oppressive, authoritarian government. I’m just an impulsive, dumb-ass teen whose tongue and “sharp-retort” part of the brain work way too much faster than the “wait maybe that’s a bad idea” and “shut up, stupid” parts of the brain.

Fair winds and following seas, my brothers at arms.
